Tree Planting Day - Clackamas Watershed

TVTU was invited to join the Clackamas River chapter and USFS biologist Tom Horning to plant trees in the Clackamas watershed.  This year Tom targeted three areas along Anvil Creek, Tag Creek and Fish Creek--all Clackamas River tributaries--to plant conifers and willow cuttings.  It was harder for Tom to find trees this year as the nurseries lost a lot of trees during the hard, cold spell this winter.  But we did plant several hundred along Tag Creek where they removed a culvert and some road last summer near Riverside Campground, and we  planted some at Fish Creek (but with a lot less walking and in softer soil than last time), and finally some more were planted up on the other side of Anvil Creek where we didn't plant very much before.  This tree cover greatly benefits fish and enhances watershed values.  We'll finished by mid afternoon and spent the  rest of the day  exploring nearby lakes and streams.
